The Lewis and Clark Expedition reached its terminus in Oregon, so it’s only fitting that the Portland project honor the expedition and its bicentennial. To mark the occasion, fEARnoMUSIC chamber ensemble will work with the composer in the creation of a new work to be performed around the state — and possibly even the site of the expedition’s conclusion.
This Continental Harmony project will also include workshops with the ensemble’s Young Composers Project. The program, for grades six through 12, encourages the student composers to develop their compositional ideas, experiment with orchestration, and get their works professionally performed and recorded.
fEARnoMUSIC’s core membership consists of piano, violin, viola, cello, and percussion. The ensemble is committed to the performance of recent and contemporary chamber music, especially to that of Pacific Rim and Northwest composers.
