Steve Cooper of Rogers, Ark., is a composer and teacher who holds degrees in composition, theory, conducting, and music education from the University of North Texas and Sam Houston State University. He teaches at Northwest Arkansas Community College, and has held teaching positions at the University of North Texas, and Dallas Baptist College. Cooper has been honored with awards from the Arkansas Choral Directors Association and ASCAP, received the Merrill Ellis Composition Scholarship, and was the winner of the T.U.B.A. Composition Contest.


Blytheville, AR
"Song for the Delta" was written to celebrate the unique features of the Blytheville region and community. Cooper's residency activities with local schools were particularly fruitful. From this Continental Harmony project, a continuing relationship between Cooper and the community was established.
